Hey All,

I have had this issue for the past 8-9 months.

Last year I created a shared iCloud Photo Library on my Wife's phone and attempted to join from mine.

The process got stuck so I deleted shared lib off from my Wife's phone.

Ever since then my iCloud Photo Library has been stuck in "Read Only" mode. I see a message saying "You are leaving a shared library" and I can not download any photos to my devices or sync.

It's extremely frustrating, having lodged a support ticket in November last year, It has been like pulling teeth to get anything out of Apple.

They keep claiming they are working on my case, the case manager ensures they are working on a fix.

The best they could do was add a 6month credit to my iCloud storage so I'm not paying for a non functional product. That time is also fast running out :|

Is this normal? I expected way more from Apple.

What are others experiences? Does anyone know if there is a way to escalate a case that has stagnated for this long?

What do you see on iCloud.com? Are all your photos there OK?

If so, make a backup up of your current library, then I would just trash it, launch Photos with option key held down, and create a new library.

After creating the new Lib you would need to make it the System Library and turn on iCloud Photos from Settings. It will then download a fresh copy of your library.

If your Photos are not OK on iCloud.com, again make a backup, then you could try Repairing your Photos Lib by launching Photos holding down Cmd+Option.

The third thing you could try is signing out of your ID. Wait a while (30 mins or so) and sign back in again.

Depending on the size of your library and whether you use optimise or not these operations (redownloading and repairing) can take a while.

If none of these work it is possible there is something wrong with your Apple account at Apple’s end and you will need them to sort out. I assume you dont have any messages about your Apple ID in Settings?

@Mike Boreham's steps could help, assuming you have a Mac - your original post doesn't say.

Do you have any other devices connected to iCloud (iPad, Mac, PC)? Are they affected by this as well?
