I'm leaving T-Mobile for AT&T... so that means I get to get a new phone, yay! This also means that I am about to lock into a 2 year contract though. 2 years is an eternity for Anroid phone these days. With the current stash of Android available on the market (minus the Note 3) which device(s) do you guys think will still be a viable and usable in 2 years time. I'm between the HTC One and the S4 (both of which I like). Not so into the G2 (or LG for that matter). I don't think the Moto X is really my flavor either. WWYD?

I'd go for the S4, and then figure out how to put the Google Edition ROM on there. I've only had one Samsung phone, but I loved it. I had one HTC phone and it always sounded like I was in a tunnel according to my mom.

HTC One, GS4 and Moto X are all great choices, but have you considered prepaid (AT&T go phone) + Nexus 5?

I am a huge fan of the Moto x. It is the first of its kind and maybe not a flagship... But I don't think it will be replaced anytime soon.

Be sure to look at ATT GoPhone too (prepaid). Then you can buy whatever phone you want as long as it's compatible with ATT's frequencies.

Yeah but don't you have to pay full price for a new device outright?

whatever you decide to do, hurry up before you're forced into AT&T's mobile share plan. I think it starts Oct 25th.

Just to add what Jessica said.... It's cheaper in the long run to go prepaid and buy your phones outright.

Do you HAVE to buy a phone when you get a contract? Putting my S4 up for sale and I don't know if it'll benefit so one going to AT&T...(not a plug in to sell my phone, but a legitimate question)

You don't have to, but you're paying for the subsidy whether you use it or not.

Honestly if you only have one line. It's a better deal if you go prepaid with AIO wireless for $55/month. All taxes included. Unlimited talk/text/2gb data (throttled after 2GB with no over charges).

Official ATT/AIO support unlike straight talk/Net 10.

So consider AIO. You will also have access to LTE network as well although I hear AIO limited to 8mpbs with LTE and 4mpbs with HSPA. (Maybe that's changed since they officially launched).

Also if you want full lte speeds consider Go prepaid with ATT at $60 and 2GB data.

What phone do you have on T-Mobile right now? If it's new enough, you'll be able to use it on AT&T and not need to sign a contract or buy a new phone. That would get you by until the Nexus 5 is out, then you could have the latest and greatest and still not be locked into a contract.
