So recently I bought the great iStat Menus to keep an eye on my Mini temps and fan speed. I noticed this app lets you quickly turn up the fans by choosing either Default, Medium, or High fan profiles. My question is can I leave the fans on a higher setting, say Medium which increases the RPMs to 3600, all the time? I guess I don't want to work this little fan too hard as Apple clearly designed it to run at a lower setting most of the time. Although it does a pretty good job at cooling at the higher RPMs.

Side note: has anyone noticed Logmein really spikes the CPU temps when connecting from another computer. I logged into my Mini using Log me in and only using Firefox the temps shot to 95C in a matter of minutes and I was barely doing anything. My guess is increased GPU usage to send the screen over the web but it really surprised me. Also the Temps on My MacBook Pro which I was using to view the mini also sky rocketed when using Logmein. Great product but poor side effect.

It shouldn't hurt it, but I wouldn't prefer that. As an alternative, I use TeamViewer, which is free for personal use and works with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Ubuntu, iPhone, iPad, etc. It's very secure and quite simple to set up and use (no messing around with ports), which comes in handy if providing remote support to those who aren't very computer literate. You can talk them through the setup on their end and be connected to them in less than a minute. I prefer it over LogMeIn because it includes free file transfers between computers, a feature I use frequently. It also doesn't ramp up the fans like you're describing.
