Leaving verizon

Now i know there have been like 2389452398459287452845 threads on this but i just convinced my parents to leave verizon and go to att in june. Our contract ends in november however (only because they added me in november but their new every two is ready now). But i did recall that verizon changed something in their contract due to texting rates a while back right? If this is true can someone please tell me if it will cost anything to leave them?

I don't think you're going to be able to escape the early termination fee with the Verizon raising text rates stuff. I think a lot of people were able to get away with it b/c they happened to talk to a customer service rep who didn't know what they were doing.

I think by this time though all of them are informed not to let people leave for that reason.

I think you'll have to wait it out til November. Or, you could sign with Cingular first and then port your number in November if you want the iPhone that bad.

about how much does it cost to leave a verizon contract? and since my parents phones have met their two year thing do they still have to pay to get out or do we just have to pay to get my phone out because it's two years ends in november? haha thx so much again!

Most contract terminations are about the same 200-250.

Hm. Well, if your parents' contract is already up they may be able to get out of it but yours ending later complicates it. I'm not sure. You'd have to talk to someone from Verizon to figure that out.

oh man $175 per phone would kill! I sure hope its only $175 total

Yeah, but the $175 is reduced by 5 bucks each month you have completed on your contract. So if your contract expires in November, you should only have to pay like $30 bucks if you cancel in June. 30 bucks to get out early is no big deal. I'm going to be looking at about $130 to get out of my verizon contract, which really blows. Hopefully I can sell my current cell phone for at least $100 to help subsidize some of that! I have a KRZR if anyone wants to buy it! PERFECT CONDITION! What I'm really kicking myself about is that 6 months ago, I switched from Cingular to Verizon. If only I had known then that the iPhone would be so cool...

yea but the $5 reduction is if you signed up acter november 16, 2006 and i signed up in 2005 :/

Now i know you guys aren't verizon employee's but do you think my parents will get out free because they've had their phones for two years? and that way i only have to pay 175 to leave?
