Hey all, new to these forums.

I was all ready to snap up a new 17" MBP last week.... then i took a trip to the apple store. That's when I saw those BEAUTIFUL 15" LED screens. I'm now tempted to just pick up one of those, but no, I really need the screen real estate of a 17. I do alot of work in lightwave and after effects on my powerbook G4, and it's getting a little frustrating.

So that's my story, but here's my question. Has anyone heard any indication of how long it will take for the 17"s to come out with LED backlighting? Months? A year? And either way, do you think Apple would quietly release them or offer them as an build option?

Thanks in advance for any possible input.:)

I don't think they're even being manufactured in that size right now, so it'd be a while yet.

As far as I know, 15.4" LED displays are the largest in production. But I am sure they are in the works- but who knows how long it will be before they end up in a 17" MacBook Pro. :)

Since we're already at the point of seeing displays that can literally be rolled up, albeit with different technology, I assume that 17" screens will be manufactured soon. However, this doesn't mean that Apple will start shipping new 17" MBPs with said screens immediately.

Seriously? Ohhh thank you apple for being teasing me with those 15" inch screens. Those thing are sooo nice and bright. At the store i had to dim it to 70% to match the regular screens at 100%.

So if I were going to be buying a 17 in the semi-immediate future, there is little hope of LED's happening?:(

I'm sure they'll come eventually, I just don't think Apple will update their product line as soon as the screens are readily available.
