ones a 6bit TN back lit with LED's with a glossy coating
the others a 8bit IPS backlit with CCFL's

picture doesnt show it too well, but the dell has really realy vivid rich colours. not overly done, but just right
its worth pointing out this is the colour LCD profile on the display settings and neither display has been calibrated with one of those wierd spyder things
its worth noting.... that whites on the MBP really are white (like Daz white) while the whites on my 2005fpw look a little mucky by comparison.
guess its a trade off.... richer colours/dimmer whites, washed out colours/bright whites.
edit - with the blue concentric circles in blue gravel wallpaper the results are much more even, i think favouring the MBP and the green one with the fish emerging from the middle of what looks like green boggies....id say the mac does the green better, but the dell rocks the orange on the fish
