Hi, with the news of steam making its way to the mac, i was wondering if anyone knew how my GeForce 8800 GS stacks up performance wise running left 4 dead 2. Has anyone played the game under bootcamp? if so, was it ok on max settings, or better on medium?

I appreciate it will probably perform better running under OS X, but if i could have a rough idea that would be helpful.

Hell it'll run on medium settings on an overclocked x1600. There's an odd performance twist too and it'll run even better with triple buffered VSync (but only with that card on L4D2, there's no improvement on L4D1).

Have a blast. It's a fun game but be sure to get the first too. Where L4D2 is like some teen slash horror film thing, the first is a more subtle Hitchcock thriller.

My HD2400 runs it pretty decently on Low I think. But the Australian version sucks so I am definitely not buying it.

Is there a Left for dead 2 mac download by any chance?:apple:

There's a few unofficial Cider ports floating around on torrent sites, I believe. But Valve is releasing an true native port of all their popular games (including Left 4 Dead 2) in April.

That's good news, i shall order a razer deathadder and a copy of the game in anticipation.

^ If rumors are true you should be able to buy the PC version from Steam, play away in Bootcamp, and when they release a mac version you will be able to download at no additional cost.

It runs perfectly on highest settings with 1680x1050 resolution.
Just buy it NOW (it's discounted) and wait for the mac version the next month to play it :)
