In August i bought a mac book pro. I figured that i could run bootcamp and be fine with all my PC games. Well im running into problems. I love LFD but it wont download to my PC (with XP) side of my mac.

This is the error that comes up when i goto actually download LFD off of steam:

"Your video card does not appear in out database. Consequently, you may not be able to the play game with sufficient stability or performance. We would appreciate your help in ensuring that we have sufficient information to address your video card and driver in the future. By clicking the Upload Details button you will help us trach which video cards are currently missing from our database"

Your Driver details.
Windows Version: Unknown
Description: Parallels Video Driver
Version 3.0.5600.0

What seems to be happening is that my graphics card is not talking to my graphics driver in the PC side. And for the "Upload Details" button, i cant click it cause it will not let me.
The graphics card i have is a GeForce 8600M GT. And i have gone to NVIDIA to find my driver and have it look for it. Well it wont look for it, and im really not quite sure what driver to download: I tried downloading the GeForce Type, GeForce 8 Series, GeForce 8600 GT for Windows XP. Yet when i go to download that, it stops. Know why?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what i could do? Im determined to figure this out!

Did you install the Parallels tools to allow virtual machine access to your Windows partition back on the OS X side?

VMware works with Bootcamp partition.

Get the nvidia driver. DId you install the Apple bootcamp drivers first?

Okay. what is VMware?
i have tryed downloading the nvidia drivers, it is not letting me. maybe because i dont have the right one? but how i do i know what one is the right one?
and for the bootcamp drivers... i think i did? but im not quite sure. if i didnt, where do i go to DL them?

Google: VMWare

Google: bootcamp driver site:forums.macrumors.com

The nvidia driver download might need to do a pop up that some browser / browser setting might block. Works fine in Safari.

okay thanks.

but before i download VMware...
what exactly is it? because i dont think i have a complete grasp of what exactly it is.

Thanks for the help

Okay. so i downloaded the driver that you posted. and it starts downloading it all fine and dandy... then this error comes up.

"The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

any ideas?

I have a good feeling that most Steam games aren't going to work within Parallels. Why did you mention Boot Camp in your first post then?

because i can load my computer in boot camp as well as parallels. i didnt think that it would make a difference. sorry.

but if i load my computer in XP and DL the driver that way do you think it would work?
