"Left of home" in iOS 14

I've been testing the beta for the last few days, it's really cool.

I feel like "left of home" isn't needed anymore, the old swipe left for widgets just doesn't make sense anymore. And also, search is available on every page, so that's not needed either...


Finally I noticed that "old widgets" from non-iOS 14 apps, aren't moveable outside of left of home... seems like they just need to remove them entirely, not sure why you have "Edit" at the bottom of left of home and + at the top.

Any thoughts on this?

+ to add a new widget, edit to add an old widget. I presume the edit will go away once everything is a new widget. You can’t put old widgets on the home screen.

You need left of home to show old widgets and to show widgets you want but don’t want on your home screen.

Yeah I agree, edit needs to go as old widgets die.

I hope that iOS GM ships without old widgets, its confusion to non power users with both...

"Left of home" is the only page that allows scrolling up and down for widgets. I hope they do not get rid of that.

Sorry, but why should "left of home" go away? It's the best place for widgets.

I actually do the same thing! I keep about 4 widgets (in two smart stacks) on my first page, and keep a couple Shortcuts widgets on my Today View page
