Okay well I guess a little back story is in order first... I am an iPod collector/repairman (always for personal use) and I occasionally stop by certain Pawn shops and I ask if they have any broken iPods that they are willing to part with or sell very cheap. Well the other day I was actually looking to buy a guitar for my nephew and I out of habit I asked if they had some broken iPods. The man brought out three and told me if I can repair the three he would give me the guitar for free (we were talking about me fixing iPods earlier). All three were easy fixes and he gave me the guitar free and clear! He took down all all my information and asked if they could call me to come in and fix the broken ipods they get, and of course I agreed.

Now here is my problem, am I allowed to fix iPods to be resold? I mean do I have to be certified by apple, is there anything wrong with fixing ipods for the pawn shop?

Thanks for the information in advance!

You have every right to fix the ipod, and they have every right to resale it.

Non being certified by Apple would only void the warranty if Apple knew of it. Chances are, there is no warranty left if it ends up in a pawn shop.

Good point... Yeah most of them are older ipods! Thanks for the advice!

Out of curiosity, what sort of repairs do you do? Fix cracked screens, replace batteries, that sort of thing?

Nice to see someone fixing these things instead of tossing them into the trash.

Well thank you! Yeah I have been fixing them for about a year now and I love it! It is my biggest hobby... (maybe I should work at an Apple Store)

Its amazing how many time the iPod is not actually broken just needs to be reset, or restored!
