Ok so I purchased the 2.4ghz MBP from my local college bookstore and I have been having tons of problems with it. First, the logic board had to be replaced coz something fried. Now, I cannot install Leopard because it gives me a kernel panic about halfway through the installation and also I just noticed that I have some weird looking banding going on at lower brightness levels.
Does anyone know why I at least cant install Leopard?
I tried to do the archive first and that didnt work, then i tried twice with a clean install. Nothing is on my OSX partition and its not working.
Should i try creating a small partition and putting the install disk on that and installing that way?
Ive had this computer for like 4 months and have been having WAY more problems than I hear my buddies having. Whenever I reboot the comp (after this failed install), I get a 3-pulsing light on the sleep indicator and it doesnt allow me to do any boot commands. I have to remove the battery for like 5-10 minutes until it works again. Anyone have a similar experience? What should I do?
I have applecare and I already took it in for service and it was gone for a week. I dont really have that kind of time, being a student, to waste on getting a computer that should function well out of the box repaired. Any suggestions?

so ive been literally trying to install leopard for the past 24 hours to no avail.
I keep getting kernel panicks about halfway through. Now, ive tried using the first install disk to reinstall Tiger but that isnt really working either. its not recognizing the disk and when I try to install it off a hard drive, (10.4.6) only the leopard install process comes up no matter which partition I select to start up from.
Should I use disk 2?
I have the applecare CD, could that help?
Basically, is there any software out there that I can put on a flash drive or cd that would be able to fix my computer or is it just a peice of crap?
this is my first MBP and im pretty disappointed :(

Relax and take a step back! When dealing with electronics you must remember that it's man made in CHINA!(nothing against the chinese but there certainly not getting top dollar for their efforts) Occasionally the aforementioned lemon does happen take it to the Genuises and let them earn their pay.
