Has anyone seen this laptop yet? I’ve watched a few reviews but not a lot out yet since it’s so new. But it has very impressive specs and stand out features to it. Some highlights:
All metal build, 3.2 lbs
14.5” 3k display with 100% srgb, 120hz and an Nvidia Gsync panel
1080p webcam with a privacy shudder
AMD 6800hs
Pci-e gen 4 ssd
up to 32gb lpddr5 6400mhz
Nvidia Rtx 3050.
The rtx 3050 is also unique as it was tuned to run very well on different creative software platforms, outperforming the 3050 it by a large margarine On different video rendering software

When I spec’d the ram and ssd to the same config as my air i ordered, it’s actually a couple hundred dollars cheaper. It’s definitely a laptop I’m keeping my eye on to see if more reviews start coming out. So far a couple that have done battery life tests are reporting 8-10 hours of mixed usage, real world usage, not just video playback loops. Plus a few benchmarks were done on battery and it’s actually a very small dip in performance, compared to the 50% loss you see on the Intel systems. It has fans but they are very quiet, even at full load, they stay around 38-40db.

There is definitely a lot of promising features to this laptop and it really strikes an awesome balance or power vs portability.

Well, I am so intrigued by this laptop I decided to order it, it’s supposed to be here Monday. Hopefully by Thursday the m2 air should arrive as well and gives me a little over a week to test them side by side before I decide which one to return.

I’ve been trying to find a laptop that checks all these boxes for a long time. Great screen, great battery life, great performance and can even do a bit of gaming on the side while still being very portable.

I honestly have no idea which one I’ll end up keeping, they both have great features. Both have pros and cons. But for the price, I had to atleast see if this matched the hype.

Amd Ryzen 7 6800hs, 16gb ddr5 6400 ram, 1tb ssd, 3k 120hz panel and rtx 3050. Even with adding in 3 years of premium care and accidental damage, it was still cheaper than the M2 air WITHOUT apple care lol.

For those curious, this config cost me $2k. The m2 air 16/1tb model I have on order was $2264. These are Canadian prices.

Looks like a nice laptop. All I'm not too fond of is the typical vents across the bottom of PC laptops. I prefer the side vents on Macs. So, your legs don't block them. I wonder if the keyboard will be as solid as a Thinkpad's?

I’ve never used a thinkpad so unfortunately I can’t compete them that way. I will be comparing this to the m2 air to see which one I’ll be keeping.

Portability is still a big factor for me

well its been an underwhelming first day with the Lenovo. few QC issues right out of the box, a mark in the glass screen, the bottom panel pops when you're picking up the laptop, the screen is crazy reflective as well.

Overall not as snappy for opening and closing apps and such as the m2 so far. I tried loading up a game real quick as well and nope, ill stick with my xbox lol.

And how was battery life ? I assume the m2 air destroyed it, butI am intrigued to know how many hours you were getting.

Didn’t keep it long enough to get a solid figure but it was nowhere near close to the m2 that’s for sure. Got much hotter too just using it on the couch and browsing. I would say 4-5 hours screen time.

That is representative of what I see other people get. What a shame that we cannot have decent Windows machine .. Apple is years ahead seriously.

I know, any kind of powerful windows laptop gives you enough battery life to move it around and set up the charger lol. My wife loves her blade 15 but it's useless off the battery, she just likes to move it to different rooms and set up. Not a fan that she has to rely so heavily on the charger though.

If she's using apps that rely on the dGPU then it has to be plugged in. I won't disagree with the poor battery performance but there are things i really like with my Razer then any other laptop.

They're different performance tiers. It's like comparing an entry performance car to MPG of Kia Rio. For workloads like gaming, GPU compute, 3D rendering, machine learning, etc. the M2 is pretty useless. Normally I'd suggest mobile 3060 or higher but if you're on a $599 iPad budget you can get this 3050 laptop instead.

Well I was hoping the slim 7 pro x would strike a bit more balance on the gaming side of things but it really doesn’t. The 3050 used is also a very low wattage version of it and doesn’t play modern titles very well. Even turned way down, I couldn’t even hit 60 fps in call of duty.

Most of my use case is not graphic intensive, I have an Xbox series x for gaming, I was hoping maybe this could be a nice in between but it wasn’t. So for my use case the m2 air is a much better fit

Interesting review - I'm not sure what to make of it. There's lots of positives but some negatives, and this particular review didn't seem to delve into the fan noise that much. I might have missed it, but I didn't really see any mention of how quiet (or loud) the laptop is in Quiet/Balanced/Performance modes.

In trying out the 14" Razer earlier this year - another AMD based thin and light laptop. The fans were going constantly. While not a loud laptop, it was not a quiet one, even under light loads - does this behave the same?

Here's another review. I will say that I'm intrigued by this laptop but doing my due diligence there are short comings, but for the right price who knows. Monitz reviewed this and his report on the battery was that it only lasted a few hours, the above review from the Hardware Canucks reported nine hours. I think if the laptop is sitting there idle, yes none hours. If you're using office apps, and various other tasks only 2 or 3 hours, like most other gaming laptops.

This is why the 16" MBP is on my short list to be honest.

These aren’t the same laptops as the one I had bought. These are the regular slim 7 line vs the pro x series.

The 14” version of these don’t have a descrete gpu, only the larger 16” versions do with the beefier cooling systems.
