Lens Distortion software

I have just downloaded DxO optics Pro 9 trial to try the lens correction which I don't get in Aperture. Not interested in LR 5 by the way as I'm staying in Aperture, just need to correct distortion from time to time!

Trouble is, it sees my wife's x100 RAF files fine, but not my images from my XE-1. Is this right? It gave me the option to update X100 drivers when I loaded the first image batch, but all the XE-1 images are "?"

Anybody else that corroborate this?

Any other alternatives?

I have not used DXO for several years but when I did I was very happy with it. I took a long hiatus from photography and a few months ago started up again.

Things you might consider -
1) Does DXO fully support the RAF files from the X-E1?
2) Have you checked to make sure your lenses are listed as supported? (This is very important)
3) If your lenses are supported but not the X-E1, you may want to check to see if the X-Pro 1 is supported and find a way to 'emulate' and tell DXO you have that camera with the supported lenses.

I have found for RAF files that the following do the best job overall for your camera (which I too own along with an X-E2) - not in any particular order and for correction only not lens distortion per se:

1) Capture One Pro
2) Photo Ninja
3) Iridiant (I think that is what it was called, its been a while)

You may want to check DXO forums and also Fuji Forums and raise your question there if you cannot get remedy quick enough.

I've had a better look at the supported hardware on the DxO website and the Fuji line up is very badly supported...only 5-6 units and non of the x series other than X100! Can't believe there isn't XPro1 support after all this time - And people criticise Aperture for poor support!

The software in General seems really good.....but that level of support has killed it for me!

Alas, the Fuji X-Pro, and E series along with a few others, are rather niche cameras and some software makers don't feel the urge to bother with them (yet).

The X-E1 is a great camera and while I am a RAW type shooter, I continue to be amazed at the jpegs that came directly out of the camera. Fuji really did something I didn't believe possible.

The X-E2 images look very similar if not identical for the most part. Some of the controls are a bit different and of course a couple of new features. I have not tried out the "wireless" as that was not on my needs list though I suspect I will some day in the future.

If you use Photoshop - Ken Rockwell has some settings on his site for some of the Fuji lenses for lens distortion/correction. (Look towards the bottom of his Fuji Lens reviews usually). I don't agree with about half the things he says but he certainly is worth a read.

If you don't use Photoshop, look up PTlens which might have some value for you. Which lenses are you using?

We have moved fully to Fuji and will be looking at the XT1 at the end of Jan to see whether we go for the XT1 or more primes this year as I would like to take the benefit of the faster focus that's coming and would give us the benefit of 2 interchangeable and the X100 street shooter.

Is the focus noticeably faster on the XE2?

Glad you are enjoying your camera and yes, the "kit" lens is outstanding.

The E-2 is faster with some lenses but for my needs the E1 is fast enough. I believe my 35mm does noticeably focus a touch faster. As for the kit lens and the tele zoom, they seems just slightly faster.

I really want to stay with Aperture and have all my pinkies crossed that this sort adjustment arrives in Aperture X. I was looking for a cheap addition to my workflow to pick this up and PT Lens seems to fit that bill in the short term......thanks for the workflow advice though!
