Quick question about upgrading to Leopard and Apple TV.

I recently changed my main machine from my MacBook Pro to my new iMac and basically moved all my music to my new library. I then had to setup my Apple TV to sync with the iMac's library and basically recopy everything.

When I returned my iMac due to too many dead pixels and got a new one, I had to go through the same process of copying all my music over again, syncing again, etc. as the Apple TV didn't see the library.

Am I missing something here? Is there a way to bypass this whole process and copy my existing folder and have the Apple TV assume that it's the same library from the other machine?

I plan to do a clean install when Leopard comes out and would love to avoid the entire re-sync process.

You will have to go through the process again. Apple TV is paired to both the ID in the library and the machine itself. This it to prevent confusion between identical libraries (I.e. Copied) on different computers.

Use An External HDD For All Your Itune Stuff..

Easiest way I found was to buy a 500gig external HDD on, sale for $129.00
at MacMall.com, & Stream all your content from there, not sync.. This way when you want to add a library or rebuild one due to a new pc purchase it only takes a minute..
It's also nice for when you have more than one pc on your home network.
If you download a song or video it goes straight to the external HDD library which helps keep all your music/video/tv shows centrally located.

~ Hope This Helps ~
