Leopard + Bootcamp = BROKE :(

tired to install winxp, and vista to my new bootcamp 2.0 partition

errored both times trying to intstall

both legit disks and they both worked before


anyone got it to work?

Is it erroring after it's made the partition and physically trying to install the operating systems.

Or is it crapping out in the mac side ?



Will be installing leopard this afternoon as soon as the courier arrives myself.

I just did an archive and install of Leopard on my Mac Pro. The startup disk app in the control panel no longer sees my Vista drive. I tried booting to it by holding option at startup and got a blue screen....sigh.

i did a clean install on my imac that had no beta bootcamp on it before didnt work


i will try tonight to load xp on my MBP that had it before i updated it

I haven't tried this as I don't use BootCamp, but an "archive and install" actually shouldn't work. If your old system folder and library are archived, then the drivers for BootCamp would not be in your current library/system folder but in the archived one instead.

In all cases, a "regular" upgrade should work fine and keep all your settings anyway. Not sure why anyone is going for "archive and install?" A clean install or a regular upgrade (after backing up) is what I would recommend.

Certainly I would never never recommend "archive and install" to anyone who did not have a thorough knowledge of the OS and lots of experience installing it.

why would i need windows drivers on my mac partition? boot camp does nothing to the mac side of the computer... it just partitions the hdd and then tells you to insert the windows cd/dvd

i chose it because it keeps all my apps and settings etc, but also clears out the system folder so no old files are left. (ive been using macs for a month, memories of windows still plague me) and back up, then erase and install does the same thing as i want, in a longer and more complicated process

Alright Vista will boot fine now if I hold option and choose it at startup. The drive still won't appear in the startup disk control panel in Leopard though. It scans for a few seconds and then nothing. Any suggestions?

So Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 is the Leopard version?

I just created a new BC partition, then installed XPSP2. When it went to reboot it said it could not book from the XP CD. But if I rebooted it booted from the CD fine. So I tried again.. No luck. So I killed the BC partition...

I did a clean install over the HFS partition (Macbook C2D 2.16), leaving the BC partition alone. Went perfectly. Parallels fired right up and launched Windows in its bottle fine, and then completely rebooted into Windows no problem either to install the Leopard driver updates. Completely zero issues.

OK. So I tried to create a separate partition for Windows after installing Leopard. I created the partition then tried installing Windows XP. It went through the whole install, restarted the computer and entered the installation all over again. It kept going around in circles. I finally just quit the installation and tried to reboot the computer without the Windows CD. Now it's saying something like "no startup disk." What the?!

So, I put the Leopard CD in and it goes back to the Leopard set up. So, I decided to do the Leopard upgrade again and when it asks where I want to install Leopard, it's supposed to show my hard drive. Well, there's NOTHING in the box.

What has happened to my hard drive??!!!

hold Option while booting... wait to chooser screen, then eject the disk... your installs should be fine
