Leopard in new iMac

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about buying an iMac for my parents for Christmas. I'm sure they will love the new iChat features with the shared desktop (whenever they have a problem or don't know how to do something).

Since the iMac will be shipped with Leopard, I was wondering whether it would technically be feasible to upgrade my MacBook with the same DVD. Someone told me that there were different versions of Leopard for different machines, but I can't believe that is true.

If the Leopard disc you receive is the iDisk (restore cd) then, yes it is made specifically for that series of iMac. It has restore data for drivers and whatever else. If it's a Leopard drop in disc (upgrade disc or retail install disc) then you could theoretically use it on the Macbook, but that would be piracy. You paid for one license, not two.


If you are buying an iMac later this month or into December it'll surely be the iDisk restore cd.

Only 1 OS install per machine. Info is in the OS agreement! Get the retail family pack and you can install on any machine, as noted by others.
