Leopard new Finder Interface I don't like it.

Ok, Leopard look nice but I was disappointed that nothings have impress me greatly. What really disappointed me is the overly use of Cover Flow. I mean what is up with the Cover Flow things going on with Apple now? Sure when the new iTunes released, the Cover Flow makes it really nice. However, it only look nice because Cover Flow really make iTunes stand out and much easier to use. iTunes is a music application, Cover Flow fit it perfectly because of Album Pictures. Then iPhone start using Cover Flow, ok I can live with that. Then Leopard start using Cover Flow too. I was disgusted when I see Mac OS X Finder look like exactly when I open an iTunes application. Yuck! I think I have enough of Cover Flow already! I think Apple is overuse this features.

Yeah, I know it's probably be an option. Thanks god. When something get overly overuse too much, it get old very fast. I wouldn't want to see iLife using Cover Flow too. I think it's a bad ideas when an OS start to look like an Application. I already seen Windows XP look like Microsoft Words, I don't want to see this happen in OS X as well.

Leopard suppose to be a leap up in the Mac OS X Tiger, when Steve say New Finder...Everyone was applause and excited, then the crowd died when they find out the new Finder is a Cover Flow kind of things. I think it kind of lazy of them to use old features we seen before, then use it again thinking everyone will be happy with it.

Somebody posted a good example of downloading images from a digital camera with file names such as DSC0001.jpg, DSC0002.jpg and on and on. Then asked the question 'which picture has my daughter in it'.

Cover Flow will get you that answer quickly.

Maybe not as fast as Adobe Bridge but hey.

Icon views been given a work over too.

As to Coverflow in Finder. It is great for people like me who are working with images all the time and want to quickly flip through all my images instead of having to open the folder in Preview or look at some tiny icons. Don't think that Apple shouldn't have added it just because you have no use for it. And yes it is progress. Finder has needed a way to quickly scan images for a long time.

maybe like in Gnome, u can set to disable previews on files whose size is larger than _________.

iPhoto already have Cover Flow that can do that to photo, so Cover Flow in the new Finder is still consider not progress. It just the same ideas from iTunes and other application Apple have use recently. Not like the Cover Flow in the Finder is something to be amazed about. I was expecting more when they say Leopard will have a new Finder interface and features. It seam like he show the best 10 features of Leopard, and Cover Flow was one of them in the Finder. I didn't see anything new in the Finder, except QuickView. When Leopard is out, I'm just hoping it not just the Cover Flow things.

Cover Flow is great at first, but make something new instead of just using it over and over in everything.

You really don't get it do you. Ever heard of consistency? Adding 1 successful/useful/cool feature from one app to another makes people more familiar with it. It is progress. Who really wants to open iPhoto up and load the entire library to flip through maybe 20 pictures? Nobody.

Also, tell me where I can use Coverflow to flip through all my Adobe Illustrator files. I can't in iTunes, I can't in iPhoto, I can't on the AppleTV, I can't on an iPod and I can't on the iPhone. The only place that I can access an Adobe Illustrator file with a Coverflow interface is Finder.

Oh and you do know that the Finder is now a Cocoa app? When Steve said that it was a new Finder, he really meant it. Leopard has 300 features, I'm sure all of them aren't just Coverflow.

But in Leopard's Finder, you can QuickView files within CoverFlow.

I actually think CoverFlow's more useful in the Finder (where quick visual scans of files can be beneficial) than in iTunes (yeah, having album art is cool and all, but I can't imagine trying to find a single song with CoverFlow).

EDIT: And remember that no one's making you use CoverFlow. Geez.

Be grateful that 17 people wanted to actually respond to this abomination of a thread. If you don't Cover Flow then simply don't use it. As one poster said...I respect Apple's usage of making Cover Flow consistent where it is of some benefit for users.

I just felt a little down because I have been waiting for Leopard for such a long time and have high hope for it. I read a reviews on some Developer who own a Leoparad Previews. In his Reviews, he says "Cover Flow everywhere!" I just hope this is not the direction Apple is heading, I love my Mac and Mac OS X, but I don't want to see Cover Flow everywhere on my Computer. I saw enough on iPod, iTunes, iPhone, iTV, and iPhoto. I know Steve just cover 10 of the best features. I will TAKE MY WORD BACK if the new Finder turn out not just a Cover Flow kind of thing. Sure, I can turn it off, but that's not the point. I just can't believe he says out of the 300 new features, the new Finder has Cover Flow, it look like he showing off the Cover Flow a lot in his Keynote. "Isn't that neat!?" Um....No!. I don't see any audiences go crazy about it, because it has been done before.

Well, it's just previewed because it's a visible feature. In other words, the things that get previewed are things that are like "Oh, that's a really clear, obvious, visible change that I can see." Getting up there and being like "Oh, the Finder is now all Cocoa and multi-threaded, and we've re-written the network file sharing stuff" is kind of hard to demonstrate. That's the real news about the New Finder. It's just that CoverFlow is the easiest thing to show off visually, thus it makes for a better presentation.
