do you think apple will offer those that buy the iMac now a free copy of Leopard?

What happened the last time around when tiger came out?

no leopard, but at least you get ilife 08. apple usually announces a release date for the os, typically within a month of launch. from that announcement on, new mac buyers are qualified for the up-to-date program (even then, apple's charged $9.95 or $19.95 for the disks). $129 for everyone else (except students, of course).

I remembered reading that users who purchased some weeks before the OS released got coupons in the box allowing you to purchase a copy of the OS for 19.95. Didn't witness it myself though.

I bought the new 24" imac now, knowing full well that Leopard was going to be released sometime in Oct. I am willing to pay for the upgrade, but I feel that I will purchase Leopard sometime around Christmas and let any bugs work themselves out before juming in... If the new ilife and iworks was not ready then I would have held off buying a new imac until everything was updated... I can't wait to get my new imac- it was shipped and should be hear either Monday or Tuesday:D

Instead of hounding apple employees for something free when you KNOW when leopard is comming out, why not just wait?

I mean there is no mystry as to when leopard is comming out. Its october! Its not like you bought your Imac and then the release date was announced... So if you want leopard FREE on your NEW imac then just don't order it until its released.

I bought my powerbook G4 a month before the macbook pro was released. If I had known that the powerbook was the first model to be updated i probably would have waited but I didn't have that information. Maybe I should have gotten a free upgrade?
