When leopard comes out, anyone have an idea how many computers you can put it on? A friend of mine (no REALLY!) has 3 mac laptops. When he buys the new OS at the Apple store....can he put it on all 3 laptops or will he have to buy 3 versions if he wants to be legal???

Thanks!!

You can buy a single user license that allows you to put it on one computer or you can pay a little more and get the family pack which allows up to five computers.

No technical reason why you cant do this. But it wouldnt be legal as such. As previously suggested, the family pack is the way to go for this.

Exactly. The Single User and Family Pack are the same DVD's I believe.

Only difference is legal.

Yes, you can do it. Now, its not the right thing to do, but you can do it. Apple isn't Microsoft with OS X. They don't have product keys and activation to limit piracy. Instead, Apple focuses its efforts on making is killer OS, something Microsoft should learn from Apple.

It can be done but not legally,
Buying a family pack is the best way to go about it

speaking of which, anyone in DC wanna start a family? We could split the cost of a family pack and devise a custody arrangement for the DVDs errrrrr..... kids.

the family pack is the most "legal" way to do it as others have said but there's nothing "Stopping" you from buying the single license and installing in on several macs.

199$ for the Family Pack of OSX...

at this price you hardly get a "Premium" Copy of Vista that can only be activated on a single computer, and even then, if you change the Motherboard you need another license...

If you're cheap just get the single user and install it on all of them. If you want to give apple some more money get the family pack. It's the same disc inside.
