:)Hi Question
I have a powerbook intel and have some Grey Leopard install DVD which say " For Mac Computers " Mac Osx Install Disc 1 and 2.

Can anyone tell me is these will work on any Mac which meets the minimum requirements to install. They are original and just confirm they arent computer specific with them saying FOR MAC COMPUTERS thanks

PowerBooks never had intel chips but if you have a leopard install disc meant for another machine it won't install on your PowerBook. If I am wrong then maybe you can be a bit more clear.

Either you have a PowerBook (IBM PPC G4 processor) or a MacBook Pro (Intel x86 Core (2) Duo processor).

The grey install DVDs are only for your Mac, they can't be used with any other Mac, except the ones, that are the same type as yours.

So if you have an MBP 1.83 GHz Core Duo, you can use those disks on any MBP 1.83 GHz Core Duo machine but not on any other Mac like an MBP 2.13 GHz C2D or Mac Mini with 1.83 GHz Core Duo.

MacBook Pro (Intel x86 Core (2) Duo processor).

Hi Sorry its a MacBook Pro (Intel x86 Core (2) Duo processor).

And the CD dont say ant specific MAC just

"FOR MAC COMPUTERS "
MAC OSX install Disc 1

thanks

I have the same question...want to update from tiger on my one macbook, they are different processor speeds but are both core 2 duo...will it work?

When asking questions like this please indicate your model info.
Apple>About this Mac>More info> Model name/Mode Identifier
(the apple on your task bar)

This way you can have a direct answer.

No. It will only install on a Mac Mini. And even then only on the correct sort of Mac Mini.

In addition the DVDs are only licensed for the machine they shipped with so installing them on any other machine breaches the EULA.

Grey MAC OSX DVD install which mac ?

Hi Any idea which mac mini pls ? or if any others ?

thanks

Grey MAC OSX DVD install which mac ?

thankyou my friend
Will it work on any other mac ? :)

odd as i thought apple made the disk work on any install as long as you had a intel mac computer either laptops or desktops and it would work even if from another computer of not the the same spec as i seen ebay sellers doing this

We are talking about the restore DVDs, looking like this:

and not the Snow Leopard or Leopard Upgrade DVD, looking like this:

.

Restore DVDs are machine specific, Upgrade disks are not.

Let see if I have this right.

I am running SL 10.6.2 on my iMac 24 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The DVD used to load SL was one that my son got with his new iMac 27" (not sure of the specs, but put mine to shame). I borrowed his so I could set up Boot Camp 3.0, and run Win 7. SS checks won't be in the bank until Wednesday.

Now everything is running smoothly. So is it because the disc was designed to run only on any iMac, and not on any other Mac computer, or because it was designed to run on any Mac regardless.

I am confused. Some of you seem to be saying this cannot be done. ;)
