How much RAM can Leopard support? Will it be able to support more than 4GB? If so, who thinks that the macbook pro refresh this January may support up to 6 or 8GB of RAM?

It's not a matter of how much the OS can support -- think about it, Panther could support 16 Gb in a PowerMac G5 years ago. So Leopard has nothing to do with it. It's the capabilities of the memory controller chips on the motherboard (and the physical number and format of the memory sockets) that determine the RAM limits.
Considering Tiger supports 16 GB officially and 64GBs(or was it 32) unofficially. I think it would be fair to say that Leopard can support more than 4.
and what would the capabilities on the motherboard on a macbook pro 17" be? Also, if there were a refresh. What is the most likely amount of slots they would give us?
1. 4gb
2. same as always, 2 slots and you're not going to see a mobile platform anytime soon that supports more than that, not to mention there are no 4gb SODIMMs (that i know of)
