Hi guys,

I just got a license for Leopard Server through work, and im thinking about installing it on my Mac Mini.

My big question is, what do you guys actually use your servers for in a home setup?

don't use it in a home set up, but in an enterprise we use it for:

- managed preferences
- netinstall
- afp shares

you use it in a home setting if you have five other family members each with their own computers and you want to be an admin for all of them, or you want to set up the mini as a file server (both of these things CAN be done with a regular version of leopard.)

I installed a copy on a Mac Mini for home just because I am doing the Leopard exams and wanted to play. Not sure I've really used it for anything practicle yet.

That said, I did get 90% in the exams so must have done some good.

I had a call from Apple yesterday offering me extended AppleCare phone support. When I said I was doing the exams, they lost interest in selling it to me.

Not using Leopard server at home yet (server is too old), but I use Tiger server at home for:

Mail server
Web server
File server
sftp server
Open Directory/AD
VPN
Jabber
File services

It also runs IRC/Bitlbee servers + the firefly media server, but they're stuff I've installed myself.

When I finally get around to getting a Mini + Leopard server, the G4 Tiger server box will handle firewall/NAT.
