I wasn't really sure where to post this topic, but has anyone tried purchasing Leopard from an Apple store with the student discount? I remember Tiger was $69 after discount, but when I tried purchasing Leopard online using my student discount, the final still came to $116 rather than $129...Why exactly is the student discount so little online?

Apple changed their standard student discount this time around, so it's $116 through Apple direct. They've slowly been eating away at the student discounts they used to offer.
Try buying from a campus store...they frequently have a special deal with Apple that lets them sell for ~$69.

they have been doing that more and more now. that IS the student discount online unfortunately. i would highly recommend checking out your school to see if they offer any sort of a discount. there have been some schools that do offer the discount of $70. but if they don't i think amazon and other places still sell it a bit cheaper than 116 but don't quote me on that
simple apple wants to take more money from people who can not afford to spend it and in turn only increased the number of copies of OSX that are pirated copies. I want to say based on the numbers I been hearing people who bought it in the past compared to now lets say the number sold to students dropped by about 50% so apple shot themselves in the foot.
