Will these programs be designed only for Intel 64 Bit Processors? Also, when are they both due?

No. Both Apple and Microsoft have way too many people using non Intel, non-64 bit machines – it would be commercial suicide to ignore them all.

Leopard is due late 2006/early 2007, I believe – roughly the same time Vista is supposed to hit the shelves.

The 64 bit users seem to be a minority at the time being. But how long will it be before everyonoe is using 64bit?

I guess I am somewhat ignorant as I don't know all the advantages to 64bit processings over 32. I know it is better, but why?

There should be a public beta of Vista out soon. I think before WWDC so we can stack the features of Vista compared to Steve's demo.

64-Bit computers can address more RAM? I think anyway.

Rich.

What are the promised new features of Leopard then?

re: 64 bit processing:-

As far as I know (which isn't much), 64 bit processing allows systems to make use large amounts of RAM efficiently. Moreover, certain applications can take advantage of 64 bit processors, however they need to be programmed specifically for this. Some reckon it will be years before 64 bit processors are standard, and further years before the is a general software operation consenus on 64 bit processing. Other than that, I'm not sure how it works. Apparently the Intel Menom Duel Processers are due for MacBooks in September 2006, but the real benefit of these won't be felt immediately beyond the suspicion that they will use less juice for more power, and will obviously be 2gig+ as standard.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bettween apple and M$, M$ is the only one who currently offers the only truely 64 bit OS and I have a feeling that it will stay that way for sevearl more years. I dont see leapord being a true 64bit OS. Vista the user gets to choose either 32 bit or 64 bit verson at the install (if there computer can handle 64 bit)
