I'm ready to buy a MBP. If I wait for Leopard, how long will I have to wait after its announced to have a MPB shipped with it?

In other words, if they announce Leopard's release tomorrow, can I place my order right away and it will be shipped with Leopard? Or is there more waiting for manufacturing or something.

think i read somewhere that if you order your machine and in less than 15 days a main OS is released apple gives you it for free, but i am not sur eim sure someone else here will knwo better

Happened to me when I bought my first mac, PB G4 15" in 2005. Tiger was released 6 days after my purchase.
I believe I "purchased" the Tiger upgrade from the Apple Store, because I had to pay $9.95 for it.
That was over 2.5 years ago, so I am a bit lost on the details, but I'm quite sure I had to pay the $10 for the disc.

Yes. Same here about 10 days before tiger was released we bought a new imac then we just had to pay 9.95 for the shipping and handling on the disc.

If they announce Leopard's release tomorrow . . . .

Just so I'm not disappointed, I've told myself that Leopard won't be released until Halloween (anything earlier than that will be a gift). Does anyone know when traditionally the release date is announced? Is it two weeks before shipment, 10 days, a month? Just wondering

Well, the deal for iLife 08 is 14 days, but you still have to pay 9 bucks. Should be the same for Leopard..

Doesn't apple like to be all secretive? Doubt when we will know. It should ship on the same day, or no one would buy anything for quite a bit of time!
