Hi,

I have a short question - I have a MacBook Air with 128GB. As I want to backup my photos (normal folder structure, not iPhoto library) and these exceed 150GB I wanted to buy 200GB of iCloud drive storage. My question: how would that work? I mean as far as I can tell it looks like I can't upload that many GB as I can't even save them on the Macbook Air, so iCloud drive is absolutely not suitable to backup photos??

Thx for your answers!

Correct. Currently there's no "selective sync" on iCloud drive, so everything would be downloaded to your Mac.

AFAIK, at this stage, we don't know if selective sync is on the roadmap. One would hope though, otherwise it's a pretty poor competitor to Dropbox and the like.

Hm, that's bad - nevertheless thx for your answer!
I hope for selective sync and of course for a viewer application for iOS - that would be really great..

You can also simply drag your photos into the iCloud drive folder on your Mac to backup photos to iCloud.
