... connection versus dvi connection when connecting to 2011 mac mini using appropriate dp-mini dp adapter and/or dvi-mini dp... anyone else notice this?

i just noticed this evening with my asus pa238q and 2011 radeon mac mini. i decided to switch cables using the dvi connection when i noticed that the options were a little different under display preferences when using the dp connection. usually, with the dvi connection, the resolution options are read out in full, such as, "1920 x 1080," for example. under dp connection, the options are just "1080p" or "1080i"---more like an option one would find on a tv set. the other reason was that i noticed the colors being less "poppy" using the dp connection so i quickly switched cables using the dvi connection and although they are not obvious... i think... if i really try hard enough---i can tell the subtle differences between the two connections. dp connection has less pop of color and the dvi connection has more or normal pop of color. the difference is very minuet. but, i can sort of tell this difference by seeing the colors on the dock change a tinsy bit when using the two different connections.

just thought i'd share this tonight to see if anyone else has notice the color differences between the dp and dvi connections for those who have monitors that have them. it is also obvious that the mac mini or os x reads the connections differently as mentioned above with the display preferences changing depending on which connection is used.

tried it with dvi-hdmi adapter that came with the mac mini and looks the same as thru dp connection. i did get srgb mode back which seems to be a feature available only thru dvi with his monitor (asus pa238q).

maybe the "color" i am noticing is the difference between my mid-2010 mbp and the 2011 radeon mac mini connected to the same monitor.

thanks anyway for responding. i might have gotten too excited over something that i thought i noticed. maybe i need to sleep.... lol.
