So basically I'm using a mouse and keyboard on a device and app designed for a touch interface. Then that is emulating normal windows XP. It works perfectly. So how can this be so easy but MS can't get an all in one solution right?
It's all bandwagoning. All the time I hear people screaming "Windows 8 sucks for desktops". Yet here I am, on a desktop, using Win8 exactly how I used Win7. Workflow, regular usage, everything, it's all about the same.
I can only think of three things I don't like about Windows 8.
1. If you go to the very top of the screen, you can grab the desktop and place it off to the side Metro style. This isn't normally a problem...unless I'm marquee selecting a whole bunch of files. I find myself accidentally grabbing the window instead of my files.
2. No "All" category in type to search. Comeon, MS. You had it the old Start menu setup, why not have it now? I hate having to manually select between Apps, Settings, and Files when all I used to have to do was type a name specifically to find what I want.
3. The deservedly maligned difficult to find power button. Even now that I know I can hit it from the charms bar, it's still more of a pain to get to than it used to be. Why not add it to the top right corner of the new Start menu? That'd make it a helluva lot more obvious and easy to find.
So...a few little things, but nothing I'd consider absolute dealbreakers. One thing's for sure, Win8 is hardly the mess of massive, horrible changes most people make it out to be. It just has a few quirks here and there.
