Everyone knows about Buy.com releasing there new music service today, and it's very obvious that they went out of there way to put Apple down and they totally copied Apple's iTMS commericals. So lets all download a few songs or albums from iTMS and have a record breaking week of downloads for iTMS and let Buy.com know that we don't appreciate them at all and that were here to stay.

Wow!!!

What an overwhelming response.

I'm against unnecessary consumerism of any sort. Resist the urge.

i have a feeling that it won't be around for long, no matter how much they try to copy iTunes. The restrictions are a MAJOR turn off, remember people, buy.com isn't really competing with iTunes, it's competing with the free p2p networks... and even if they are $.20 cheaper, not knowing whether or not you can burn/transfer them just isn't worth it.

Basically it will only appeal to the average consumer that doesn't know how to use p2p... who are not likely to rely on the 'net for things like music purchases anyway.

bye bye buy.com

Apple would be really happy, if every day all the people who can buy music from iTMS bought it just in spite of buy.com and other music services.:p:D;)

This can go hand in hand with making some bizarre song hit number one on Billboard.

To send a song to number 1 would prolly take Arn being invovled and Posting it on the Main page and telling what song to download.

yes everyone download the macrumors remix by bjork. bizarre enough for you? oh wait, it probably has to exist... damn...

i'd imagine i'll wind up buying at least something before the day is up, as per usual... every time i poke around, i find yet another song/album i have been meaning to buy/download for years...

this thing sucks, you need WMP9 which blows hard. Its a crap UI and no way near as simple as iTMS. When iTunes comes to windows then it'll be the #1 store for both platforms

Ok, I'm in. I just purchased the two Neil Young exclusives that were posted this morning, as well as the new Bob Dylan album. God bless the iTunes Music Store! :D

Im in!

I agree about the fact that buy.com isnt really competing with itms, they're competing with the p2p programs. so basically the only people who would buy from buy.com are the ones who feel bad about "stealing music" with p2p. so that means maybe one person will buy, since we know that windows users dont feel bad about "stealing music" because they all are heartless, evil, dirty, people ;)

im in too

as i said elsewhere i think buymusic.com is going to flop but im in to stick it to those intellectual thiefs (hmmm in more than one way it seems) and incase buymusic does sell:rolleyes:

BuyMusic.com Commericals.

I understand the need for a legal music service for PC users, however; I think its bs that they copied our iTMS commericals.. I don't see how legally they could get away with this.. It's just a shame that people have seen the original Apple Commericals, and now assume those were BuyMusic.com commericals too.

i haven't seen any on TV yet. they just started today. it's not like we all haven't seen people talking about cmopanies being bad or good in front of an al white background. but this people will eventually think of the iTMS ads as better because the people in the buymusic.com ads aren't very good singers:p

Well i've been on a long waited shopeing spree of 45 songs today lol. I finally got paid and been wanting to dl a bunch of songs what a perfect day to have this shopeing spree lol. Go iTunes the king of online music downloads!!!

Or they assume the BuyMusic commercials are Apple commercials. : )

If Wendy's had a drippy hamburger in their commercial you'd assume it was a Carl's Jr commerical until the graphic came on--if you were even paying attention at that point.

What's all this "we" and "our" stuff? As far as I know, none of us work for Apple.

Anyways, all downloadable music stores blow IMO... I don't like being restricted on how I use it. Just go buy a CD from amazon.com for $12 with free shipping and rip it yourself.

True enough, but we're all a part of what Wired Magazine so endearingly terms "the cult of mac".

Yeah, I'm down with ripping from the source and having the actual disc, too. That being said, there are a good number of exclusives by artists such as U2, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young that aren't available anywhere else. That's why I use the iTunes Music Store, honestly. And if DRM is a non-negotiable (it'll always be there in some capacity), then Apple's Fair Play seems to be the sweet spot.

Buy.com sucks to begin with.

I bought something next day (in stock), after 2 weeks of not getting it I cancelled the order. After another 2 weeks I got the buy.com order that I had cancelled. (By this time I had ordered it from amazon and got it, and setup service. (it was a wireless device.)) Then Buy.com wouldn't let me return it. After trying 10 different numbers I finally got through to a person and got it returned. A month later they credited my Card and then they cancelled my other device's service! (Which I ordered from Amazon.)

NEVER will I give Buy.com another penny!

::pant:: ::sigh:: OK I am done now. :D

i've got a plan

alright its farfetched but even n partial it will help. There are 20,000 members of macrumors, if all of us buy 5 songs this week thats 100,000 total, and that makes a difference. So what we need to do is get arn or mr. anderson or someone high up to putt this front page and it might than work... but unlikely:(

That would be good but I doubt Arn would post it on the main page. And some people have bought close to 100 songs already in response.

I would if I lived in America....

what's really sad about it is the how-to videos at the bottom, with a typical stereotypical blonde trying to show people how to do stuff. SO anyone doesn't get me wrong, I mean using the blonde to attract customers, not meaning that she's dumb.

there commercials from the site look sooooo bad.

sorry for the double post,

but notice that it says from 79¢ per song. The first song I click on is 99¢, same iTMS and you can only burn it three times

ahhhhhh..... flag
