Let's assume the leaked phone is the real one...

Obviously we don't know a lot about possible upgrades to the processor or other internal parts, but why would I get the next gen iPhone over say the new Droid Incredible on Verizon? It seems like that phone has far better specs.

1 GHz Snapdragon processor (probably faster processor than next iPhone)
Google Android 2.1 with HTC Sense 2.5
3.7 inch WVGA OLED touchscreen display
8GB internal memory and microSD card slot
8 megapixel camera (better camera)

Reasons I can think:

1) My familiarity with the iPhone UI
2) On AT&T you can talk and also surf web
3) More internal memory

Would love to hear other opinions.

For the record, this is not a slam against the iPhone. I have the 3G and love it, but it does seem as though others have caught up to and passed the iPhone. I was behind a guy at a sporting event that had an HD2 with T-Mobile, and I was amazed at how great of pictures he was taking and how quick the phone was. Obviously my 3G is outdated, but the 3GS hasn't impressed me, either.

This thread summed up: Convince me to get the new iPhone over any others out there!

Yes, I agree that a lot of other phones have surpassed the iPhone hardware wise. None have even come close to the software side though, IMO. Android is still buggy and I don't see that ever changing because they keep adding new features and not cleaning up and simplifying the existing ones. Apple is MUCH slower at releasing new features, but when they do, it is very refined and very user friendly. Also, Safari is by far the best web browser still out there and that is the "App" I use the most.

Since when has Apple in it's computers ever had the greatest specs. It's about the software and integration with the hardware. The iPhone is no exception.

As others here are mentioned before, more megapixels does not make for a better camera. I'm sure they'll be here to explain why, but it makes complete sense. Something about more pixels packed onto the same size sensor, so the 5mp makes better use of same size lens, something like that.

Let's assume there's already a thread with this exact same thread title. Honestly though some people forget the iPhone user interface just works better than the others. Yea a lot of phones have specs better than the iPhone. I've tested some of the droid phones and the phone just doesn't operate as well or as smoothly. So if you want one of the other phones, that's great. I personally like the iPhone for it's smoothness and attention to detail of what it's trying to accomplish, not simply ramming evey spec into the phone because you can.

Coming from a hardcore iPhone/iPod Touch user I beg to differ. I swapped out my 3GS for a Nexus One and am incredibly happy with my decision. Android is no where near "buggy" (2.1 at least) and although not as user friendly as iPhone OS, it is definitely usable. I find that the iPhone OS is indeed intended more for the casual users out there where the Android OS can cater to the casual users but even better to the hardcore/nerdy ones.

Android OS is so much more capable then the iPhone OS that it is not even close. The simple fact that the apps you can download are able to integrate themselves into the OS and other apps is probably one of the best things that Android has to offer. I was very anxious to see what Apple was going to release in OS 4.0 but the only major change being "Multi-Tasking" really was a HUGE let down and made my choice of switching to Android seem ever better.

As far as Safari goes, yeah its great but the competition have already caught up. I have yet to wish I had Safari back, not even once. Along with the larger display and better speed on my N1 it provides a even better experience then Safari to be honest. With Flash 10.1 being released soon for Android, it will be the last thing it needs to be 100% complete in my eyes.

I am still very open to seeing what Apple has in store with their OS but knowing that it takes them nearly a year to add "major features" it's hard to be at times.

You seem to be really enjoying your phone. Every other thread has you preaching how much you love it.

Plenty of other products out spec Apple's. For many companies, the only thing they can thInk of to compete with Apple is to bump theIr specs.

I'm the same way. I'm even running my Nexus One rooted with the hTC Desire ROM flashed on the device... much better than the stock 2.1 ROM IMO. Granted, I came from an iPhone 3G, so anything new this year was going to be faster... the Desire internet browser is much faster than Safari was on my 3G (I can't compare it to a 3GS) and I am even running flash
