Most should admit this is INCREDIBLY CONFUSING.

Few weeks ago all 3g iphones can be unlocked EXCEPT firmware 02.30.03...

how about now?

I really want someone knowledgeable to explain everything thats going on. Someone that knows the in and out without having someone else come on a few minutes later to correct him/her from their mistake.

I currently have a 2g unlocked. Unlocked through quickpwn.

Its very confusing to hear all the steps necessary to add 3.0 on this phone. Something like: Have 2 versions of Itunes
Update 3.0 on one version,
unlock ONLY with pwntool, BUT that program was designed for macs....so find an equivalent for windows
This is almost to the point of never wanting an iphone again it gets so frustrating.

Im also considering getting a 3g. Apparently there are some for sale locally that have 3.0 as well as being unlocked and jailbroken to which they had to use Redsn0w to jailbreak then find cydia scroll through to find ultrasn0w to unlock it. But I still need to know...is ABSOLUTELY EVERY 3G iphone unlockable at this point? If so I can buy phone from my friend cheaper than elsewhere. Some friends have the 02.03.30 firmware which was formerly not unlockable.

Does anyone here have the patience and knowledge to spell this one at for everyone who is in a similar situation?

Or perhaps start a new thread with THOROUGH information that can apply to everyone whether they have a 2g or 3g. unlocked or locked, unlocked through quickpwn or pwnage.... no matter which firmware there phone is...etc.

Thanks for the time.

3GS is only model that can't be JB & UL.

And there are already plenty of tutorials with step by step directions for every model of phone and every software version.

Google is your friend.

All iPhone's 2G and 3G can be unlocked. Only the 3G S has yet to be jailbroken and unlocked. The 3G S jailbreak will most likely come out soon followed by the unlock.

2G and 3G iPhones can be unlocked. About you wanting a tool for Windows, jailbreaks always come out for Mac first because things always works better when its Apples to Apples not Apples to Oranges (PC). But eventually a PC jailbreak does come out, case in point, redsn0w.

But trust me, buying a Mac is worth it :D Once you get an iPhone, you will want more of that kool-aid. :apple: Having a Mac saves my ass a lot when it comes to iPhone unlocks as well...of course, can't beat the stability, and things of that nature...wow I am going totally off topic.

Anyways, back on topic, iPhone 2G and 3G can be unlock with just a little bit of effort.

Cant beat how Apple keeps releasing updates for Mac USB drivers not to allow Iphones or Ipod Touches to be put on DFU mode :D
