Following up on its innovative 2014 design, what can we expect in the future from Apple? While these features are purely speculative, many believe the next Mini will include some or all of the following forward-looking ideas:

-- USB ports moved inside the case

-- Case interior protected with mousetrap

-- Power cord soldered to your wall outlet

-- Logic board disintegrates like vampire in daylight

-- On/off switch eliminated to reduce carbon footprint

-- Faces of U2 replace all system icons

"Only Apple could do this."

;)

single core Processor
new OS X but no 3rd party apps allowed
Solar powered
$100 cheaper then 2014 model

God sounds great. Cant wait to get mine. Hopefully it only lasts one OSX cycle so I can upgrade to the 2017 model.

Let's look ahead to the Late 2016 Mac Mini...

A pocket size box with super cool calculator accessible right there physically for your calculation needs (translator in the next version). New ports with 5k output to watch your calculations bigger. No need to power it it works with watch batteries (not user changeable). Put a phone option in it for 900$ upgrade.

Edit: sorry this became a 2024 version.

I also need a serial port please. And make sure to put a really fast high pitched fan in there to keep it nice and cool.

2016 Mini will be SSD only and a much smaller form factor.

Actually it won't have internal anymore (HDD/SSD)... like the Apple TV.

It will also have US-Type power plug... worldwide.

It will be available in 3 colors... like the iPhones.

No USB connections... only Thunderbolt.

It will use internals from upcycled iPad 2's, and run a special version of Snow Leopard compiled for the A5 processors. It will be protected from user intrusion by a dollop of plutonium placed inside its hermetically-sealed, lead-lined case. There will be no power cord, as the plutonium will generate electricity via thermocouples. It will have a single port only, Thunderbolt, with a special slim connector available separately only from Apple for $59.99. But it will be the thinnest Mac Mini ever, and available in an exciting variety of designer colors specially selected by Angela Ahrendts herself to coordinate with all our Ikea furniture.

:D

The 2016 mac mini will be discontinued. The apologists will love it: "Just buy a mac pro if you need a headless mac, don't be so cheap!".

3 colors? No USB? Lay off the pipe.

After my 2011 Mac Mini dies (hopefully not for several years) if things don't change for the better, I'm done with Apple...

Ugh, you killed it.

2016 Mac mini, only works for an hour a day. Marketed as the Greenest tech yet.

8-bit 6502 architecture ... because 64-bit just needlessly complicates things for app developers and if you need that kind of computer power you should be using a mac pro anyway.

Freaking hilarious! Good one! That slim connector is a real must have!

Will it bend if I carry it inside my jeans pocket?

I finally found apples plans for 2016 :) Iphone 8 will be at the size of current mini with 16 gb ram 256 gb ssd and 128 bit cpu. Mac mini will be at the size of an iphone with unreplaceable parts. Makes sense. :)
