Ive been using a 4k LG monitor with my M1 Macbook air for over a year now, and I use it with a displayport to USB-c cable to plug directly into my Mac. The other day it stopped working, so I switched to HDMI through my USB-c Hub, which works but the refresh rate sucks. I got a new Cable and its still not working. I tried most things that Ive read and nothing seems to make the port work. I know cables can be tricky with these, but after using two cables (and my other one worked fine for a year), I dont think its that. It sits on a desk too so the cables rarely if ever get touched. Any thoughts? thanks

ugh, literally seconds after I posted this, my last idea was to reset my monitor to original settings and that worked! And my original cable works again too. Very weird, but if anyone else has this issue, give that a try.

LG displays need to have a setting called "Ultra HD Deep color" (or similar wording) turned on in order to enable 4k/60Hz over HDMI. There's also issues with these displays going to a deep sleep on DisplayPort which won't wake when connected to my Thunderbolt docks.

weird I dont see that setting or anything similar. But 60hz works fine through displayport for me.
I thought I read that you cant get 60hz via hdmi through a USB-c hub, but I might be wrong.
