Hi all,
I’ve recently purchased a used LG 5K monitor (27MD5KA-B built in October 2017) and had only realised the amount of image retention issues the monitor had during its first gen release.
Due to the current circumstances of the world, the gen 2 is pretty much impossible to find here in the UK.
However, the current monitor I have has no issues from what I can see, but am worried that this could arise at any moment in the near future with the age of the panel.
I wondered if anyone had any experience with how common the image retention issues actually are? (I.e “majority of panels”, “you’d be very lucky to not get them eventually”)
I’m wanting this monitor to last as it is a really great monitor, but given its track record I’m in two minds about whether to return and just hope that a newer 27MD5KL comes on the market?
Thanks!
TLDR: LG Ultrafine 5K (27MD5KA-B) How common are the image retention issues and is it actually possible to find a monitor that won’t accumulate them?
