EDIT: never mind. I see the LG Ultrafine 5K direct from Apple is better than the LG without some of the quality issues.

Work is getting me an M1 MacBook Pro. At first I was considering one of the many ultra wides on the market, but most of them have a maximum vertical resolution of 1440, which would be a reduction over the 4K monitors I'm currently using (2,160 pixels). As a software engineer, having decent vertical room is important to me.

The LG 34WK95U looks great on paper (5120×2160) ... and I see plenty of youtube vids of people using it with their intel generation MBPs, but I'm wondering if anyone's had a chance to try one of these with an M1 yet?

Or ... maybe another ultrawide that would work that has at least a 2160 vertical pixel count?

Using horizontal resolution for ultra wide monitors make little sense.

The LG UW is not true 5K.
