finally! it's good to have competition, consumers always get great products. other than asus and samsung there's no big name in the android tablet industry, i hope LG brings up some great products and gets established in the market.

Ughh..this is the size I'd have preferred for the Nexus 7. So it's now either a tablet running stock Android (as I prefer) that's too small for my tastes or a perfectly sized tablet with top level specs but likely running a manufacturer's skin.

Why can't everything ever line up nicely for me in a single device.

I feel this way after every flagship smartphone announcement. LOL. Seems OEMs come so close yet just can't quite put everything I want in one device.

LG skin is not to bad less laggy then touchwiz. I think the LG 2 and LG G pad is a nice combo.

Maybe, but I think I'm sticking to skin-free devices going forward. I like Sense well enough on my HTC One but after seeing how long it's taking to get 4.2.2 on my Developers Edition, I'm going to stay with GE or Nexus devices. I much prefer the blank canvas of stock Android, allowing me to customize it how I like.

Well, looks like it's been officially announced as the G Pad 8.3 tablet, and I have to say I'm a bit impressed--nice design, relatively slim bezels, and a great size display. Also runs off a Snapdragon 600 CPU with a 4,600 mAh battery.

I'm a bit concerned about LG's skin, that's it's being release with 4.2.2 when KLP is just around the corner, and no mention is made whether there are storage options greater than 16 GB.

This is the size/design the Nexus 7 should've been--guess that would've made it a Nexus 8.

I find it odd that manufacturers are putting better CPUs and GPUs in smaller phones and worse CPUs and GPUs in larger tablets which are supposed to be more powerful. Example here is the LG G2 and G Pad. G2 has a Snapdragon 800 with an Adreno 330 while the G Pad has a Snapdragon 600 and Adreno 320. Less powerful components in a bigger device with more pixels? Definitely seems backwards to me.

it'd take them some time to establish themselves in the industry. i wouldn't be surprised if the tablet sees poor response.

Maybe I'll wait for the Note 8.0 2. Samsung will update it at least.

Maybe because a vast majority of customers, at least here in the US buy their mobile phones on subsidy. What costs $600-700 at full retail now costs $199-299. Tablets, on the other hand are largely bought without a subsidy so a lower price is required, else they wouldn't sell too many at $600-$800. Hence, the cheaper components.

Apple does the same. Look at the iPad mini A5 vs iPhone 5 A6. Plus LG might come out with a 10" model. Wouldn't look right if both have a Snapdragon 800. And I think it's a safe bet that the Nexus 10 will be faster than the Nexus 7.

Makes sense, but not all tablets/phones follow this theory.

For example, the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10. The Nexus 4 was $300 at start and the Nexus 10 was $400 yet had a less powerful CPU.

Plus recently I saw a story about some video app coming out. They said they were focusing on laptops and tablets before making the app available for smartphones. Seems odd considering most smartphones easily out-power tablets.

The Nexus 4 has a more powerful CPU than the Nexus 10 but they both came out at the same time and the Nexus 4 is cheaper.

Price will determine whether this is a success.

Needs to come in at £200.

Otherwise forget about it LG. The Nexus 7 has set the bar.
