LG had a Linux iPad back in 2001?

Who knows if Apple already paid LG off already in an undisclosed settlement. Many things happy behind the scenes.
Only time it becomes public is when the two sides cannot come to an agreement like Samsung/Apple latest USA court verdict.
Look in the overall scheme of things a 1 billion dollar fine for Samsung is like most people getting fined $150-200 for a speeding ticket.
Samsung is expected to make 20-25 billion dollar profit for the entire year. Factor in they can deduct this 1 billion dollar fine as a business expense and also will appeal the decision. At most Samsung is looking at is around 600 million fine in realized costs after tax deductions.
It's still not a big enough fine to tell a company to stop infringing on copyrights. And remember Apple and Cisco settlement on the "iPhone" way back in 2007? Apple probably just paid Cisco millions to settle the dispute before it got out of hand.
The whole concept behind the iPad didn't come from Apple or the iPad. Limited "Internet connectivity" tablets have been around, Nokia did some even recently prior to the iPad based on the Maemo platform.
It's really no surprise. None of these devices really took off before the iPad, and even today, none are gaining traction besides the iPad. It's almost as if people don't really want tablets and the iPad sells based on the merit of iOS itself. It makes me wonder if an iOS netbook wouldn't be a hotter seller than a tablet. A smallish MBA style 9" or 10" laptop with iOS on it.
