Very clever tech and it’s impressive what companies are working on right now

Id be super hesitant to buy a first generation foldable/rollable for anyone, especially LG. They are the one phone OEM that I have had hardware issues with every single phone of theirs I've owned and a lot of them had software issues where they would just hard brick out of nowhere. I hope Samsung is working on a rollable device as I think they, along with Apple, have the ability to nail it from a hardware and software standpoint.

But yes, I am glad tech companies are pushing the boundaries of phones again after a few years of tech being relatively stagnant.

I've never owned an LG phone... my sister had one for years, it held up pretty good. Whenever I think of buying a phone... LG might be one of the last company I'll choose and I honestly think it's due to their market place.

I don't think they have the scale to build quality software features as far as what customers want and creating hype for it. I believe um.. MKBHD mention Sony as an example. Sony creates awesome tech for other companies to use as their cameras... and on top of that they have some great tech for their smartphones. But don't get the recognition they deserve.

And LG, they are known for their displays... but they don't push the envelop like Samsung. And as you mention... I'm glad companies are providing competition, but I'm not too concern with buying from LG.

It looks great and I also think this is the route shrinking phones will take. Some caveats though, the whole screen durability issue is magnified here exponentially versus folding phones as with rollable phones that screen is exposed 100% of the time. Also personally it would drive me nuts waiting for it to unroll as I open my Fold 2 dozens of time in each day, it needs to either have an option to open it manually or the motorized mechanism needs to be way faster.
