The LG Nexus 4 and LG Optimus G currently represent a pretty noteworthy change for LG, in that they are premium devices with relatively cutting-edge specs. In the past they mostly focused on low and mid-range devices but now it seems that LG might continue to push into the premium market. A mysterious device code-named the LG F240K has now shown up on GLBenchmark, bearing a 1920 x 1080p display.

Other specs from the GLBenchmark indicate the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. As for screen size? Following the HTC Droid DNA and a bunch of other leaks about 5-inch 1080p handsets, you can pretty much bet the farm that the LG F240 is also a 5-incher.

I'll have to wait and see how the optimus G and other LG devices do before I'd consider buying a device from them.

Next year, 5" 1080p screens will be the norm and we'll have plenty of options to choose from.

Samsung has proven the many advantages & joys of the large screen smartphone circa 2012. Now LG follows, a very wise move on their part. Apple? Well suffice to say it appears they're set in their ways, rather stodgy & conservative.

Further advancing state of the art mobile computing & communications, Samsung created a new class of devices. The Phablet. At 5.5" the revolutionary Galaxy Note 2, in my personal experience can easily replace my iPad mini for times when I only feel like carrying one device.

Thanks to Samsung 2012 was an exciting & fun year. They've brought us innovation in ways that Apple might have, but didn't.
