LG may soon imitate Samsung's Galaxy Note with the G3 Stylus

lg-g3-stylus-2014-08-05-01.jpg

LG hasn't finished with new G3 variants yet, judging by a promotional video (below). It appears that a G3 Stylus will soon join the flagship Quad HD G3 and its much smaller and lesser equipped sibling, the 4.7-inch G3 Beat. There's not much to go on other than the stylus, though it looks even bigger than the 5.5-inch G3. Don't count on an Optimus Vu resurrection, though -- a previous UA profile leak detailed an LG Stylus with a qHD 960 x 540 screen, which would make it similar to the new G Vista for Verizon. If that proves accurate (and it may well not be), the new handset would be less Galaxy Note 3 and more Galaxy Note 3 Neo. Meanwhile, Samsung's latest stylus-equipped Galaxy Note 4 device is expected soon with a 2,560 x 1,440 screen -- that's "QHD" with a capital "Q."

Good. Hope they do a G Pad stylus as well.
Could do with some competition for the Galaxy Note line.

I hope they all have the same internals. I'd hate to have to pick the stylus over a better screen, more RAM, etc.

I'm really liking the possibilities. However, it takes more than just a stylus to compare to the s pen. Hopefully, there is more to it. It does look a bit skinny.

Competition for the Note (awesome s pen) would be welcome. We'll see...

If rumors of a qHD resolution are true, this is no Note 4 (or Note 3, or even Note 2 for that matter) competitor. My guess is this is targeted for markets outside North America.

Looks good, but first they need to fix the overheating issues and improve battery life.

I'd rather get a G3 stylus than a Note 4. G3 has great design, probably better build quality than Note 4, on screen buttons, laser autofocus, microSD also, IPS screen instead of AMOLED, etc.

Is this an actual digitizer kind of stylus (don't know the technical term) or just a piece of plastic? That alone determines if it can really compare to Sammy's note line.

But can you live with 960x540 display resolution on a 5.5+" display? Because that's what the rumors point to. If LG is going to offer a competitor to the Note 4, it's likely the G Pro 3, not this device.

I wonder the actual S pen usage statistics on the Note 3.

Most people I know personally that had that phone, including me, never used the S-pen and just enjoyed the specs and awesome screen.

With the Dr appt resolution, no way it will compete with the Note series unless it's way cheaper. If it's true then stupid move on LG. I would of considered it, if it has the same resolution as the G3 or Note 4.

I only used the stylus for work to write something down fast or when my girl uses it to make a shopping list on Keep.

From this scientific study, Samsung should abandon the s pen.

Who said anything about getting rid of it?

Was more of a question to who actually uses it and I would venture to say more dont use it as opposed to people actually using it in everyday utilization.

Sorry if you needed further explanation.

I hope that's not true. It wouldn't make any sense for LG to release a competitor to the Note series with that poor resolution, unless it's a low end phone, but then again that wouldn't exactly be a competitor to the Note 4.

I use it daily and certainly great when I'm taking different notes for work and shopping etc. I use it when on Internet sometimes. Just one of those nice features to have.

I use the pen for notes, scrapbook, and drawing. Without it, I would have gotten another phone.

Steve's dead. Long live the built-in stylus. They're popping up everywhere. Have you seen the new 8" NVIDIA SHIELD tablet? A 1920x1200 IPS beast for just $300.

Don't know about that. Aside from Galaxy Note 3 (and potentially this G3 Stylus), which other phone/phablet has a proper electromagnetic stylus? Wasn't Jobs specifically talking about phones and not tablets?
