Hi,

I've recently purchased an LG Ultrafine 4K (2019, 24" version) from eBay, to use with my MacBook Air M1.

When I go into the Displays panel in System Settings, I have the following five scaling options:

Larger Text - 1504 x 846
Default - 1920 x 1080
Option 3 - 2304 x 1296
Option 4 - 2560 x 1440
More Space - 3008 x 1692

However nowhere does it give me an option for a true 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution. Is this normal, and how can I verify that the screen is in fact running at 4K resolution?

Use both hands and then hold down the 'Option' key while click on display settings and you'll get the full display settings!

Yes, it's "normal" and if you want to access an unscaled 3840×2160 option, you have to hold Alt/Option while clicking "Scaled", as pointed out.

As for how to check what resolution the screen is actually running at, one option is to install SwitchResX. Launch it, select the UltraFine on the left, open the "Current Resolutions" tab and double-click on the currently selected mode. In the window that opens, verify that the "Active" row says 3840 pixels by 2160 lines.

Amazing, thank you both! Was concerned I had bought some kind of replica with a cheaper panel fitted from eBay, this has resolved all my worries 🎊
