Hey has anyone heard if the Lidar thing is safe? Or if it will damage the eyes of children or pets for that matter?

Most likely it works in near infrared, also intensivity is very low, you even will not see it's beam.

I would assume that Lidar is safe give that in the next 2-3 years, we're about to see 80% of the automotive industry using it to map out humans, objects, animals...etc. if your referring to lidar being like radiation, i dont think so either.

Not sure I understood the point of the question to answer a question. I thought it reasonable since I have humans and pets in my domicile. Anyway.
My point, although subtle, was that this was the EXACT question TO ask :) I am very unfamiliar with this tech. I know Apple thinks it is safe, but I need to know more.

If I understand your question correctly I would avoid shooting the pulsed laser directly at the eyes. Like any laser beam it has the potential to cause harm by intentionally mis-using it. Error on the side of caution; don’t use it as a play toy; and there will be no issues.

Wondering the same thing after reading

and

I did ask AppleSupport, but no answer (yet) on what the use to make it 100% safe, also if you look into the beam for like 30 minutes while recording a video or so.
