i have started to notice a line of light coming from the side of my iphone when using it in a darkened room. The light is starting to get annoying.

Is this something that Apple will be able to resolve as my warranty runs out on the 22/09/09?

Is it a crack in the casing?:D

this has been talked about to death ( do a search )

even if you get a replacement phone, the new one will probably have light leakage

get a butter knife and push the rubber seal into the phone, this should help fix some of the light leakage ( but not all)

Don't push it in with a butter knife, that's horrible advice. The reason you get a light leak is because the rubber gasket that rests between your scree and the chrome bezel just isn't thick enough. This has been a problem since the 3G and it isn't an issue Apple considers "replaceable". Now, if some dust happened to make it's way in through that space and under your screen thY may be a reason to exchange.

Either way, if you do find a reason to exchange ... The new one will most likely have the same problem, maybe worse. So try to exchange at your own risk. One fix I have seen used is to take a sharp razor blade ( not butter knife ) and basically move the rubber gasket until it blocks out the light, or even filet it to block it. A butter knife is too thick and may crack your screen by placing pressure on it.
