Light Peak

Can it be possible Apple built in light peak using audio ports. I mean before the Audioports were set up for digital audio transmission. Can they now be used for Light Peak. I mean Apple hide the bluetooth in iPod touches and asked for upgrade. They did the same with the airport express cards to enable wireless n. Also I recently pugged my apple earphones into the new imac 27" and I was able to control the music using the remote attached to the earphones. So can it be possible use the mac in to receive datain light peak and audio out to send data. I mean you can use a light peak router to divide one cable into many. Another thing the mac pro is suppose to come out with light peak built in. I noticed apple keeps alotof things hidden from users. That they don'tmention its like easter eggs.

Your headphones use an electrical signal to control the music and volume on your iMac by shorting out a connection briefly. Nothing to do with the optical technology.

LightPeak must be able to send AND receive fiber optic signals at the same time, something the port in your iMac CAN'T and will not be able to do. Sorry.

I didn't mean to saythey use optical inorder to do that theyjust never told people you can do that. The earphones also have three stripes meaning there are four connections. Left,Right, Control, and Ground

Basically, no. LightPeak is not a standard audio connector, and never will be. Apple won't have hidden it in the current iMacs.

I think my uMacBook was one of the first devices to have that audio port that works with the iPhone headphones mic. It was mentioned in reviews etc at the time, and I assume they're just putting that port in everything now.

LP is still in the prototype phase, the only machines with it are inside Intel's campus.
