I have a 20'' iMac with a 2.4GHz Core 2 and an HD2600XT.

There are light vertical wavy floating lines visible on the screen when running Windows XP. They are more clearly seen when you look the screen at an angle, from down below you look upwards to the screen. The floating lines can be precisely seen on grey backgrounds. These lines are not noticable much, but when you closely look with grey backgrounds, they are visible.

The problem is very strange because I've tried updating the drivers to my HD2600XT, and no luck at all.

I'm not able to determine wether the problem is hardware of software related, due to the problem not existing in Mac OS X.

Help me please!

Hi,

I have the same problem with my iMac (specifications in my signature).

Nothing seems to resolve it:

Installing Vista, instead of XP
Removing drivers and trying to use the default Windows ones.

I don't know if I should return the machine under warranty.

Well, after using Windows for around 3 hours, it started to really annoy me. So I found the iMac feeback form on the Apple website:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/imac.html

Under "Feedback Type" there is a "Bug Report" option.

I reported the problem there.

I would suggest users with the same problem report it using that form, hopefully if they get enough reports they will look into the problem.

Chris.

This really is incredibly annoying. I wasn't having this issue with my older white 20" iMac. Did they switch to a crappier display or something.

I have a 20" iMac, but I have the 128MB 2400 XT and do not have any issues. However I do have the problem where some blue fonts show up as RED in XP. I think Apple just needs to work on their drivers better maybe?

I'm having the same problem when running Windows 7 on an iMac with 2400 XT chip as well. :(

I get this a bit with my 20" w/ 2600 under XP as well.

At first I thought it was due to overclocking my card, but it is unrelated, as I have since stopped overclocking and still encounter the same problem, only under XP.

I don't think it's an issue of the display, as you'd notice it under OSX as well if that were the case.

I've tried both versions of Apple's Bootcamp drivers (the ones that come on the disk and the ones downloadable from AMD's site) and several versions of the Catalyst drivers using Mobility Modder, and nothing seems to change it.
I'm currently running the latest Catalyst drivers (9.5 I think?) using the Mobility Radeon 2600XT drivers under XP.

I don't notice it much when playing a game or doing something on a bright screen, but on darker & solid backgrounds, it's very apparent.
