Lately, lightning plugs aren't staying snugly in the port of my 7+; they pop out with the slightest movement of the phone. Several times, I've plugged my phone in to charge for the night, only to wake up the next morning and find it didn't charge at all, because the phone wiggled slightly after I plugged it in. I've tried various cables, all with the same result -- so the issue is definitely with the phone, not any particular cable. I took a toothpick and cleaned some lint out of the edges of the port, but that didn't help. I can't figure out why I'm not getting a tight, secure fit any longer.

Under normal conditions, my next step would be to contact Apple, and see if the port assembly can be adjusted or replaced at an Apple store; but that's obviously not an option for a while. Does anyone have any other advice? Thanks.

You need to dig inside, at the end of the port for built up lint.
