Lightning port worn out?

I don’t use my iPhone 6 daily anymore, but it has had a lot of problems with the charging port being dirty in the past. I am wondering if the years of abuse in bending the lighting cable or the wear and tear of plugging it in thousands of times has caused it to be wider than it should be and unable to charge?

Has anyone ever squished down a lightning connector to make it wider? Or is it possible to open the iPhone up and bend the connector down again?

I've never heard of a Lightning port getting loose. They seem to be very well designed.
What can happen, however, is that the port fills with lint and debris from the phone being carried in a pocket. This can be removed with a toothpick or other non-conductive object gently poked into the Lightning port.

Yes, I have taken this iPhone to the Apple Store twice to get it “professionally” cleaned over the years. I think the last time was Feb 2022, and I stopped using it in September 2022, so I don’t know if it got dirty enough in that time.

I will be making a trip to the Apple Store later this week and can see if they take a look at it. There isn’t any critical data left on there, but there are a few notes and apps that didn’t get their data moved over to the new iPhone 14 when I had the chance.
