Looks like KelbyOne is reporting that Adobe updated LR 5.5 so that if you let your LR subscription expire and/or cancel it. You still will have access to your images within LR.

That tells me Adobe's taking LightRoom to a 100% subscription model sooner rather than later.

Yeah, this move, certainly make its more likely. With that said, it is a plus for those who were worried about ending the subscription and getting locked out of their catalog.

I'm still not sold on the subscription model. I don't have to rush into buying anything at this stage so I'm taking it slow.

When LR is only available with that bloated thing PS in a bundled monthly service......I will take my raw files elsewhere. One more reason to stay with the native raw file format and NOT go DNG.

Think I'll go for the subscription model once LR 6 is out. For now I purchase LR 5 for £85 late last year, so it makes no sense to start paying them £9.99 a month w=unless I really needed PS (which I probably don't).

There are things I like about dng, but not all apps read that file format and lose access to my RAW file so I agree. Keeping things native, keeps my options open.

It doesn't do for me what I want to do with photos. That is why my LR plugins are Nik and Perfect Photo Suite. If I every wanted a pixel editor and general purpose graphics engine, So I would not want to pay a dime in monthly fees for using it. All I want from Adobe is LR.
