Hi I am a Lightroom user and have 4:3 (1200x1600) 20" Samsung Monitor. I am happy with the color but I find that I an always turning on and off the side panels so I can view my image larger. It seems that lightroom is made for wide screen monitors. Has anyone made the jump to a 24" wide screen,(1200x1900) and are those 300 pix really worth it.

Yes the 300px are worth it. Most graphics programs seem to benefit from the widescreen because of the side toolbar. But if your Samsung monitor is of good quality (PVA or IPS) I woudl not trade a 4:3 good monitor for a crappy (TN panel) wide one.
It should be said that if your shots are portrait mode, the wide really works against you- the 4:3 would do better here. I have often turned my monitor sideways (it pivots) when working with many portrait format images.

Thanks for the input. I pulled out my old 17" monitor and set it up next to the 20" and use it in grid mode. It is working out rather well in lightroom and it is excellent in photoshop. Very happy now and kept some money n my pocket and a monitor out of the landfill.
