Hi all,

as you might have noticed, Adobe has added a new function - "Dehaze" to Lr and Camera Raw. Unfortunately this has been only available to Creative Cloud subscribers and not to people who have purchased a stand-alone version even though the function is present in the code.

However there is both a manual workaround and free presets available even though you are using a stand-alone version. The only difference is that your Dehaze function will be in Development Presets rather than having a single slider.

I have not created any of these, just browsing through web and thought more people could find these useful as well and I'm glad a non-CC members can enjoy these now as well :).

Edit:
I have tried the Prolost presets on a few hazy images I've taken and they seem to be doing a really good job, will experiment a bit more. Hope it works for you guys as well.

No worries at all, I've used it a bit more and it seems to be working exactly like the slider. I've used the presets from Prolost as they offer enough tweaking.

Still seems rather crappy of Adobe - if you are going to sell the standalone LR6, not including these filters seems a direct snub to those who prefer to not join CC...yes...I get that they said some features might not make it to the standalone. Like I said...still seems "petty" for lack of a better term...

Completely agree, if they wanted to do this, they should have never created a standalone version of LR6, where they claimed that it will be the same as the version for CC users. They are pushing people towards cloud and subscription-based solution through this.

No surprise there. Adobe has been headed this direction for some time. Where is the standalone Photoshop or other Adobe apps? I think Lr is the only one today you can get as a purchased license for a specific release. All other apps are in one or more subscription plans. Personally I will be surprised if there is an Lr 7 now that Apple is killing off Aperture.

Of course not, you are right. I was surprised they've released LR6 as a standalone app, honestly I wasn't expecting that from them. Photos.app might be a decent solution for people after third-party plugins (at least to get it to Aperture level for start) but there's new alternatives emerging. I believe that steering towards cloud, other companies are able to offer alternatives solutions creating a competition and more choices for users, which is great at the end of the day.

MCASan - while I agree that they are obviously moving to subscription, I guess at the end I also feel like if they release a standalone, it shouldn't be orphaned...either do it right, or don't do it at all. Adobe repeatedly has said that the only difference between LR6 and CC is the cloud...so if that's the case, letting LR6 users have the dehaze feature should be effortless...not giving it is an intentional action.

I am not sure in which press release or Adobe website page they said Lr 6 and LR in CC would stay functional the same (that would imply Lr 6.1, 6.2 and subsequent releases like we had in LR 5.1 to 5.7). But at least now Adobe is showing that CC is the latest Ps, Mobile Lr, and Lr releases. You can see feature differences between Lr CC and LR 6 in the list.

http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/versions.html

Look at quote on this page: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-lightroom-6-standalone-vs-cc.html; and especially the last paragraph. I have put the quote below.

"If you have Lightroom as part of a Creative Cloud subscription, you already have access to this upgrade. You can download right away, with no additional cost. All of these updates are also available as part of the CC Photography plan, where Lightroom CC comes together with Photoshop CC for just $9.99/mo USD.

You can also buy a traditional license of Lightroom 6 for $149 (“full” – for those new to Lightroom) or $79 (“upgrade” – for previous Lightroom customers). All upgrades from older Lightroom versions (LR1-LR5) can now only be purchased online direct (if necessary, change your region in the lower left corner).

Please note that this latter (standalone) version of Lightroom does not have access to any of the mobile or web workflows supported by Creative Cloud, and only Creative Cloud members receive ongoing feature updates."

If that quote is from Adobe, they are clearly saying only CC members will "receive ongoing feature updates". They seem to have spoken correctly, maybe just not loudly enough on the topic.

I think you are dead on right...correctly, but hardly loud enough.
